Chapter 4: [link]

Woohoo! Chapter 3 has been revised and re-revised so many times that it's GOTTA be perfect by now. But watch, the second I post it, I'll find something I could've changed. XD

This was definitely a fun chapter to write. For some reason I've always wanted to write or draw 2D and Murdoc singing drunk tunes together. And come on, that's gotta be the perfect song to sing drunk on Plastic Beach! The song is called "Barbara Ann" obviously, and I thought the Beach Boys version would be most appropriate for the situation. You can listen to it here [link] . I always imagined 2D singing the high part while Murdoc took the lower bits, with Cyborg kinda bouncing about the place on an acoustic guitar.

Also, Murdoc is quoting and doing the dance from the movie Caligula. It features Malcolm MacDowell, one of my favorite actors, and is.... well it's something Murdoc would watch while on a date with his right hand.

For those less familiar with the Gorillaz plotline, the "Paula" that Murdoc is referring to is their original guitarist, and 2D's exgirlfriend. They broke up and kicked her out of the band when russel caught her and Murdoc doin the hanky panky in the bathroom stalls. You can imagine why 2D would be upset at Murdoc mentioning her. If you actually listen very carefully to the audiobook version of "Rise of the Ogre", you can hear 2D trying not to cry in the background as the narrator tells the story about Paula. :(

The "stoned escapade" that 2D is talking about is the puppet segments during the Apollo Theater show and the Webby Awards Interview that took place after. [link] You CANNOT watch this and tell me they're not on something. Swan shaped scones in St. Johns?! HIS RIGHT HAND'S BIGGER THAN HIS LEFT! XD

Murdoc also makes a reference to the George Thorogood song "I Drink Alone", and Gene Kelly was a famous dancer, best known for his work in "Singing in the Rain". I realized I make a lot of references (Jamie loves to drop movie and music references, so I figured it'd keep them in character) but I don't want anyone to feel confused or not get them, so if there's something you don't understand or an obscure reference that I might have missed, let me know.

Lastly, I had to do some research on tango steps before writing this. I have NO clue how to dance. XD If anyone out there actually knows how to tango and this sounds like bullcrap, please lemme know. 2D and I might not know tangoing from breakdancing, but Cyborg is supposed to, and I want to make her as accurate and calculating as possible.

Finally, if anything seems out of character, cliche, or is just plain wrong, lemme know. I'm worried that the end of this chapter was a little too overdramatic, but it does kinda come into play later on. Murdoc does have a lot of worried lapses about Noodle, so I didn't really think it was OOC. Feedback is love!

Oh, and I almost forgot! This fic is inspired by :iconzilkenian:'s 2Droid pics. She is epicly awesome. Srsly. :iconimseriousplz:

I love all the little references you put in your stories, being an old fart, I know them all, even the Kon Tiki expedition book one :D.
